ABOUT US

La Société de récupération des appareils commerciaux (SORAC) est un organisme à but non lucratif responsable du programme de recyclage des appareils de réfrigération et de congélation conçus et destinés à un usage commercial ou institutionnel dans l’ensemble du Québec.

The program allows to safely process the hazardous components the recovered products contain, such as:

  • Refrigerant gases and blowing agents used to expand insulating foam
  • Mercury switches
  • Compressor oils
  • Printed circuit boards and other electronic components

Our Vision

To significantly contribute to environmental protection and develop our expertise to become a leader in Canada as a recovery and valorization organization for commercial and institutional appliances of all types.

The program put in place by SORAC has the following objectives:
  • Enable the members to meet the requirements of the Regulation Respecting the Recovery and Reclamation of Products by Enterprises
  • Ensure that products concerned are recycled in a responsible manner that protects the environment and the health and safety of the workers
  • Implement, throughout Quebec, a program that aims for recovery and reclamation rates in accordance with the Regulation
  • Keep operating and management costs as low as possible
The minimum recovery target set out in the Regulation is 35% starting in 2026
